Humans should not use animals as sources of food and clothing. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this view?
In ancient times, there was no position to the exploitation of animals. But now, many animal-rights activists object to consumption of animals as sources of food and clothing. I would not go along with their viewpoints.
Granted, there are people who insist that animals should not be treated as source of food and clothes for the reason that animals help human beings from various aspects, such as offering loyal service to humans and accompanying us as pets.
From my point of view, I still believe that using animal in a proper way is acceptable. In terms of economic and social development, forbidding consumption of animal products altogether is not necessarily sound advice. Some species may become overpopulated without control, which can interfere with people’s daily life. Take kangaroos in Australia for example, in the 1990s the overpopulation of kangaroos had seriously reduced the crop yield and caused traffic problems until the government allowed some people to hunt kangaroos for their meat.
As a matter of fact, appropriate consumption of non-endangered species as sources of food and clothing would not damage the ecosystem. On the contrary, it can help to promote health interaction between humans and the wild life. For example, a reasonable amount of daily intake of animal products can strengthen our immune system, which can protect us against contagious diseases.
To conclude, even though I agree that the hunting of endangered species should be banned, I would argue that the benefit of using non-endangered animals as sources of feed and clothing are still significant.
