Television has changed the quality of life for the ordinary person. Do you agree or disagree?
It is true that our life has greatly changed ever since the emergence of television and personally I agree with this argument.
First and foremost, television enriches our spare-time Iife. In the past, we had very few leisure activities after an exhausting day of work. We could simply take a walk and go to bed early to prepare ourselves for another tiring day of work. However, since televisions made their way into our life, our leisure time has become more colorful and enjoyable. We can either enrich our knowledge by watching various documentaries or entertain ourselves by watching variety shows.
Actually we can also strengthen our friendship by inviting some friends home and watching sports events on TV while sharing beers together. In addition, the emergence of television created a new TV industry, thus propelling the economic growth of a nation, which can finally translate into a better quality of life when the whole nation can accumulate abundant wealth.
However, on the other side of the story, television also brings many negative effects on our lives and the most devastating one is the encouragement of an unhealthy way of life. Firstly, television can expand our waistline since it cuts down our time of doing sports and drives us to head back home immediately after work to watch our favorite everyday TV plays while munching different fast foods joyfully. Besides, it can also deprive our sleep time by showing numerous appealing programs till late at night. Furthermore, staring at the screen for a long time might hurt our eyes. This is especially true for children whose eyes are more vulnerable compared with those of adults.
Overall, television has changed the quality of our life in both positive and negative ways.
