Some people believe that air travel should be restricted because it causes serious pollution and uses up the world’s fuel resources. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Taking air pollution and the world’s scarce fuel resources into consideration, some people propose to restrict air travel. Nevertheless, I totally hold an opposite view with such argument. To start with, air travel causes only a small amount of air pollution and consumes fractional fuel resources.
Therefore, the restriction of air travel can hardly make any difference in our efforts to alleviate air pollution and conserve resources. Currently, statistics show that a far larger proportion of air pollution is caused and fuel consumed by vehicles. Since we haven’t banned the use of vehicles, it is unjustified to restrict air travel only out of the concern of air pollution and fuel consumption it entails.
What is more, air travel is irreplaceable for its time-efficiency. In this day and age, time becomes highly valuable. Nowadays in major cities all over the world, we can easily find those people who get up early and rush to work, who gobble down some fast food during lunch time and who break their back day and night. Since time consuming is something that they can not afford to lose. Besides, it is necessary to be relaxed and refreshed during the short holiday. In this case, some people want to seize every moment of this precious yet short vocation and not to waste too much time on the road, which makes air travel an ideal choice in terms of both leisure and business.
In conclusion, airplane facilitates the convenience and comfort of our travel. Admittedly, air travel generates air pollution and uses fuel. Nevertheless, it has been suggested that we should improve our airplane more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient instead of simply restricting it.
