Some say young people should choose the career they want to follow on their own. Others on the contrary say that the choice should be made by teachers and parents in order to be realistic and think about their future. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Undoubtedly, career plays a crucial role to a person. Instead of discussing with teachers and parents, many young adults today tend to choose their career largely by themselves, and this trend is raising concern. This essay will give some reasons why teachers’ and parental advices can actually help students, but warn against forcing young people into doing particular careers.
To begin with, there are causes why advices from teachers and parents are not always helpful. Firstly, sometimes youths are forced to choose careers which are highly demanded or paid in the society and they face difficulties in coping with that. Unquestionably, this can have a far-reaching impact on a youngster’s mental and physical growth. Secondly, suggestions form teachers and parents aren’t absolutely right once in a while. Some teachers and particularly parents have stereotype in their mind. Consequently, the generation gap may lead to old-fashioned and even wrong instruction.
For me, nonetheless, teachers and parents can surely provide experienced and mature advices on career choices. Not onty do they have extensive knowledge about life, but also they could offer instructive suggestions to confront the challenges in the daily life. For instance, when I was a student, my computer teacher advised me to do further study in computer science. I firmly believe that my success as a computer engineer at present can largely be attributed to the proper guidance from my teacher. Also, teenagers always have some naive ideas in adolescence. Moreover, most of them don’t dearly and fully know their strengths and even interests. As a result, they are less likely to make appropriate decisions regarding their future.
To conclude, the young can certainly benefit from their parents and teachers in helping them to make right decisions. All they need to do is to sit down and have an intimate talk to find out which career is the most suitable one for their kids.
