It is a good thing that those in senior management positions earn more salary than other workers in a same company. To what extend do you agree or disagree?
Recently, the disclosure of some astonishingly high salary paid to some senior managers has aroused much controversy among the public. Some believe this huge salary gap causes employees’ hatred, thus doing no good to the development of the company, while others regard the high wage as an incentive for employees to pay extra efforts to get promoted. Personally, I side with the latter view.
To start with, in terms of the company, it is necessary to pay senior managers a reasonable salary for their retention. Since Senior manager is a precious asset for a company not only due to the skills they possess but also the clients and resources they hold. We can image that if those managers resigned, the company would probably encounter great difficulty finding people to replace them within a short period of time. Therefore, it is rational for the company to pay senior managers a high salary to keep them from switching to other firms.
In addition, high salaries can be an incentive to motivate ordinary staff. If they realize that boost in earnings will be given commensurate with the performance, they will exert all energies to get elevated to senior positions. Thus, it is an effective method to create a positive and moderate competition within the company so that the qualified employee could be promoted with a comparatively higher salary than other workers.
In conclusion, senior managers deserve to be better paid than other employees in the company since this policy could possibly keep a stable management as well as achieve a virtuous circle of its development in the future.
