Model Answer 1:
Well, there were already many reunion dinners in my life. The most memorable one was for my grandma’s birthday last year. She was 80 years old then.
All of her children and grandchildren came from near and far to attend her birthday dinner. My grandma’s smile was like a blossoming flower when she saw all her family members. The table was laden with various foods. The quick-fried Crabs cooked by my older brother were really my cup of tea. However, there was also an ugly cake in the middle of the table which was made by me.
Anyway, it was my first try and everybody told me it was delicious despite its rather ugly look. To me this reunion dinner was a good opportunity for communication among relatives. There was something like a miraculous power coming from this event and I was quite moved emotionally.
Since then I appreciate my family much more than ever before. Furthermore, as my grandma is above 80 years old now, we as her descendants should spend much more time with her. Life isn’t everlasting! We should cherish every moment with the ones we love!
The underlined part sounds very poetic, but I think it’s too Chinese. I could imagine that Europeans or Americans would be rather puzzled by this expression.
I suggest: A big smile came on my Grandma’s face
By using “came” you suggest that she started to smile and this smile got bigger and bigger.
